Homework Policy
Homework packets are assigned every Friday and due the following Friday. If school is not in session on a Friday, then it will be due on Monday. A student may turn the homework in one day late, and will be penalized ten percentage points.
A student may turn the homework in two days late, and will be penalized 20 percentage points.
Work will not be accepted more than two days late. It will be a score of zero. I will, of course, make exceptions in special circumstances with a parent note.
Please help your child with their homework, but do not do their homework for them. In most cases, the homework that are sent home are skills that we are currently practicing in class.

Missed Work Policy
- If your child missed school on a day that an assignment/project is due, then the work needs to be turned in upon your child's return date. (Ex. If homework is due on Monday, and your child is absent on Monday and returns to school on Tuesday, then homework needs be to turned in on Tuesday.) The same goes for assessments. Missed assessments will be given when the your child returns.
- If your child will miss multiple days of school, please note that they will not be given work in advance. It is difficult to gather resources and make copies for one child. Although I try to stick to my plans and schedule, unforeseen events may happen and cause plans to change. They may have to receive their work upon their return.
- Classwork turned in one day late will be penalized ten percentage points, two days late will be penalized twenty percentage points. Work will not be accepted more than two days late. It will be a score of zero.
Behavior Policy
- Fourth grade teachers will be using Class Dojo to keep track of students' behaviors. Students will be able to earn privileges (e.g. Homework pass, bring small stuffed animal to school, out-of-uniform pass, teacher's chair for a day, etc) through the points they have earned.
- -3 points will result in the completion of a Behavior Reflection Sheet. The reflection sheets will be given to parents during conferences or parents can request it to be sent home.
- -5 points will result in a phone call home.
- -8 points will result in detention
Attendance Policy
Students returning to school after an absence must bring a written statement signed by the parent(s), explaining the reason for the absence. If an absence of two (2) or more days is anticipated, please notify me. CPS policy will be followed regarding contacting parents of children that have five (5) or more unexcused absences (absences without a parent note). An absence note due to a vacation is considered unexcused.
Note: Five (5) clock hours of instruction are required for a full day of attendance. A minimum of 2 1/2 hours of instruction is required for a half-day. Students arriving after 9:45am or leaving before 2:45pm will be marked for a half-day of attendance.

Communication
The best way to contact me is through email. I check my email often, but due to unforeseen circumstances, please allow 24 business hours for a reply. If you would like to leave me a message that needs immediate attention then I recommend writing a paper note and putting it in your child's homework folder. I won't necessarily check my email until after the school day ends. You may also leave me a phone message with the clerk, but I will not receive that message, nor be able to return it, until the end of the day (schedule allowing). Feel free to contact me for any reason.
Conferences
Emailing me is the best way to schedule a conference. If you need to schedule a conference with me, please give me 24 hours notice in writing, and I will confirm the date as soon as possible.

Party Invitations
It is very important to me that we never make children feel left out. This comes up most frequently when students are planning parties for upcoming celebrations. I understand that you cannot always invite every student to parties, however, students are not allowed to pass out party invitations in the classroom unless they are inviting every child in the class.
